Imbros Gorge – Sfakia Village
The tour to Imbros Gorge is a great opportunity to visit the second most popular gorge of Crete suitable for all the ages.
We will begin our trip to Imbros gorge driving to the west of Crete. After a short stop for coffee and breakfast next to the village of Skaleta we will pass the town of Rethymnon and turn to the south. Half an hour later we will reach the village of Imbros where we will enter the gorge.
During the walk in the gorge you will be surely impressed by the scenery. At the beginning the path is wide and the sidewalls are quite low, but further you go, the narrower the passage will be and the higher the rocks. In the narrowest point the pass is less than 2 meters and the height reaches 300 meters.
The length of Imbros gorge is 8 km and the average walking time is about 2,5 hours. The route is mostly descending but never steep which makes it ideal for families with children. The beautiful shady trees protect hikers from the scorching sun and make the walk easy even during the summer time.
After finishing the gorge our bus will take you to the beautiful village of Sfakia, situated at the southern coast of Crete. Here you will have time to swim in the Libyan sea or have lunch in one of the local taverns.
