Experience the real life of Crete with our tour to Heraklion open market, city tour and the famous Cretaquarium.

For the beginning we will visit the Cretaquarium Thalassocosmos. Founded by the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research it is home to 2000 sea animals of 200 different species found in the Mediterranean basin from small fish and clams to big sharks and tuna. Our walk next to the big tanks will be nothing less than impressive. The remarkable lighting and the constant water movement will give us the impression that we are actually diving in another world.

After visiting aquarium we will head to the famous open market in Heraklion, where local merchants offer their products at very good prices. Here you can find almost everything: food and fruit, clothes and shoes, souvenirs, folk art, sweets and much more. The smells, the crowd, the loud voices of the people selling their goods, the vast variety and the colors are bound to impress you.

Leaving the market we will make our last stop in the city center of Heraklion, where you will have enough time to stroll along its cozy streets or do the shopping. Visit the Morosini fountain, the Venetian Loggia and The Archaeological Museum. Admire the Cathedral of Saint Minas and the Church of Saint Titus. Walk down to the old Heraklion harbor and visit the imposing fortress of Koules. Explore the Venetian walls that surround the old city. Have a lunch at one of the restaurants or taste the real Greek coffee with famous bougatsa at the Lions’ Square.
