Jeep Safari Sarakina Gorge

Our first stop is the traditional village of Kritsa located at Lasithi area and built at the foot of Kastellos mountain. The ladies of the village have created an association to make traditional Cretan products, using the local honey and olive oil. They follow the recipes handed down over the generations. You will have time to walk around the village and buy some of the typical local products.

Leaving Kritsa we will drive up to Plateau Katharo, situated 16km away from the village of Kritsa and 1200 metres above sea level. Here we make a stop for coffee in one of the traditional coffee houses.

We continue our tour and drive through the forest of Selakano to Agia Paraskevi. Here we will make a stop for a lunch in the traditional Cretan tavern beside the running waters.

Our next stop is the Gorge of Sarakina. This small gorge located near the village of Myrtos, at the southeast foot of Mount Dikti. Its length reaches 1.5 km. The width ranges from 10 to 3 meters and its walls reach a height of 150 m. Features despite the compact size, giving the landscape particularly impressive appearance. The Kryopotamos river rolls almost all the year and the natural environment is just amazing. Here we will meet rich vegetation of big trees, oleanders, myrtles, wickers, ponds and waterfalls.

After visiting the gorge we continue our trip to the village of Istro located on the southern coast of the picturesque gulf of Mirabello. You will have enough time to swim in the crystal clear waters of Voulisma beach before we set off for the way back.
